1949 Houston Buffalos program, issued for a barnstorming game between the Jackie Robinson All-Stars and the Negro American League All-Stars, signed by Jackie Robinson on the cover. Robinson's signature, which has been scripted in blue ink, contrasts well against the light-red background and grades 8/10. This game was played at the Houston Buffalos' home park, hence the use of the team's standard program, but the preprinted rosters for each club have been affixed to the back cover. The lineups for each club are handwritten in the respective scoring pages, and the game is neatly scored to record a 9-4 win for Robinson's All-Stars. In addition to Robinson, his team's lineup that day also included Roy Campanella and Larry Doby. Despite the lack of a printed date on the program, the fact that the cover pictures Del Wilber as manager of the Houston Buffalos (combined with Houston's season schedule on the interior and the team affiliations listed for each All-Star player) pinpoints the year to 1949. Jackie Robinson barnstorming programs in general are scarce. Signed examples are rarer still and have always been highly desired by collectors. The program (7x10") displays moderate handling wear and light foxing. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from JSA.
