Throughout his incredible boxing career, Muhammad Ali had no need of a baseball bat. As the only 3-time lineal World Heavyweight Champion, Ali did his hitting with his fists, powerful enough on their own. His fights against Floyd Patterson, George Foreman, Sonny Liston and Joe Frazier are the stuff of legends. Ted Williams, like Ali, was also a powerful hitter, but Williams hit over.400 three times and bashed 521 homers using mostly Louisville Slugger baseball bats. What is the connection between these two American icons? Louisville. Ali was born in Louisville, Kentucky as Cassius Clay, and he later changed his name. Besides producing the one-and-only Muhammad Ali, Louisville produced untold thousands of baseball bats from the city's Hillerich and Bradsby Company. Thus, boxing slugger Muhammad Ali signing a Louisville Slugger baseball bat makes perfect sense, and makes for an unusual, and prized collectible. The offered signed bat is 34 inches long, and it weighs 29.75 ounces. The label on the barrel reads "LOUISVILLE SLUGGER/125/HILLERICH & BRADSBY/LOUISVILLE KY." The top of the barrel is imprinted as "GENUINE MUHAMMAD ALI LOUISVILLE SLUGGER." Muhammad Ali has signed the barrel in neat script using a black marker. The barrel of the bat has a few small nicks and a few small marks, seemingly from a black marker. Otherwise, the bat is in excellent condition, and its boxing and baseball cross-interest appeal is substantial. It comes with a PSA LOA.
