Dale Murphy played 18 Major League seasons. He broke into the Big Leagues as a 20-year-old catcher with the Atlanta Braves, switched to the outfield and remained with Atlanta for 14-and-a-half seasons, and was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1990 season. Murphy played with the Phillies through 1992 and finished his playing career with the Colorado Rockies in 1993. Offered is a game worn Dale Murphy Philadelphia Phillies 1991 uniform. In his entire career, the all-around Murphy bashed 398 home runs. He was a 2-time National League MVP (1982-83), a 5-time Gold Glove winner, a 7-time All-Star, and a 4-time Silver Slugger winner. In 1991, the year this jersey was worn, Murphy batted .252, with 18 home runs and 81 RBIs. The jersey is white, with wine red pinstripes, trim, lettering and numerals. A red "3" is on the left chest, and a Phillies' patch is on the left sleeve. On the back is affixed a nameplate reading "MURPHY" in red letters, and under the nameplate is "3", also in red. On the right sleeve is the manufacturer's name stitched in red. On the left chest is a red "P", and above that is Murphy's signature, neatly written in black marker. The pants have three tags in the waist: A Rawlings manufacturer's tag with "37" for waist size, a "2-inch extra length" tag, and a tag reading "Set 1/1991". In the waist is stitched "Murphy 37/38 21 91". The jersey has a small, light stain or ironing mark. Overall, the uniform shows light game use, and it is in excellent condition.
