1935 Schutter-Johnson #26 Babe Ruth. Graded EX 5 (MC) by PSA. Of the nineteen total examples of this card listed in the PSA Population Report, three are graded EX 5 and two are graded EX 5 with a qualifier. NONE are graded higher. Schutter-Johnson is one of the most unusual and obscure sets from the 1930s. The numbered cards, which are titled "Major League Secrets" on the reverse, feature illustrations of Major League ballplayers on the front, each of whom offers playing tips to kids. As noted on the front, the artwork was done by former Major League player Al Demaree, who also provided illustrations for the 1938 Goudey "Heads Up" set. Ruth is featured twice in the set, but the offered example is by far the more desirable and valuable of the two because he is featured in a full body pose (the other, card #42 pictures only his batting grip). Ruth is shown in a batting stance, but oddly, he is giving a pitching tip here: "How To Pitch to Left Hand Batter." Further instruction from Ruth appears in print on the reverse. Ruth #26 is the key card to the set and aside from the obvious "MC" centering issue it remains one of the five highest graded PSA examples.
