Rare Detroit Tigers banner commemorating the club's 1935 World Championship. The design features a large embroidered image of a Tiger, with the lettering reading "1935" in the upper left corner and "Champions" in the lower left corner. The embroidered names of twenty-four team members are stitched in black along the bottom right border, including Greenberg, Gehringer, Cochrane, Goslin, Fox, Rowe, and Bridges. While we are calling this a banner because it can easily function as such, it was most likely issued as a pillow case because it consists of an orange cloth front and black cloth backing that has been sewn together along three of the four borders. The right side is open and can easily accommodate a small pillow. This piece was almost certainly issued by the Detroit Free Press because the image of the Tiger here is identical to the iconic "Iffy The Dopster" Tiger featured in the pages of the paper during that era. The banner/pillowcase (20x20") remains in Near Mint condition. An attractive and scarce Detroit Tigers souvenir dating from the club's 1935 World Championship.
