Presented is a retail Hillerich and Bradsby Rogers Hornsby bat in beautiful condition. It is 35" long and has a weight of 39.1 ounces. Known as "The Rajah," Hornsby was a terrific hitter who hit over .400 three times and had a lifetime average of .358. He played 23 seasons, mostly with the St. Louis Cardinals (13 seasons) and the St. Louis Browns (five seasons). He was a 2-time NL MVP and a 2-time NL Triple Crown winner. He also was a 7-time NL batting champion, and he was a player/manager for the World Champion 1926 Cardinals. The second baseman was also a manager of five other teams, four of them as a playing skipper. The player who used the offered bat has his name stamped on the knob and very lightly near the center-brand on the barrel. On the label is "40 R.H." The bat has been cleaned, but is otherwise all original, with deeply burnt in Rogers Hornsby facsimile signature on the barrel. For a bat that is over 90 years old, this vintage Louisville Slugger is in remarkable condition.
