1907-1909 H. M. Taylor Postcard Detroit Club. Graded EX 5 by SGC. This is the only example of this card graded at this level by SGC, with NONE grade higher. The card, along with two others from the H. M. Taylor set (also in this auction), was just recently discovered in Michigan and is therefore new to the hobby. The H. M. Taylor postcard series, which consists of just seven cards, was a regional issue and featured only Detroit players. As a result, all cards from the set are scarce today. The Detroit team card is one of two in the set to feature Ty Cobb during his first full season in the Majors and, as such, has always been highly coveted by collectors. The image pictures the 1907 American League Champions in a classic team pose, including Cobb, Crawford, and manager Hughie Jennings. The postcard (5.5x3.5") has not been addressed or mailed. This is the finest example of this Detroit team card we have offered and one that would be a welcome addition to any advanced Ty Cobb or vintage card collection.
