Hall of Fame pitcher Don Drysdale always felt it was better to give than to receive. So, he had a philosophy he described as "two for one." When he was pitching for the Dodgers and the opposing hurler knocked down one of his teammates, Drysdale described his plan. "If one of my teammates got knocked down," said the 6'5" righthander, "then I knocked down two on the other team." Offered is a single-signed Official National League Baseball (White) that has been autographed and inscribed by the pitcher who pitched his entire career for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. Drysdale's intimidating style helped him win 209 games and the 1962 Cy Young Award, when he had 25 wins. Drysdale was a 9-time All-Star and a major part of three World Championship teams. Don teamed with Sandy Koufax to give the Dodgers a miraculous tandem of aces in the late 1950s until the mid-1960s. In 1968, Drysdale set a National League record with six consecutive shutouts along with 58.2 consecutive shutout innings in a row. Twenty years later, Dodger pitcher Orel Hershiser broke the consecutive scoreless innings mark, but did not match Drysdale's six shutouts in a row. Drysdale was also a good power hitter who bashed 29 lifetime home runs and was sometimes used as a pinch hitter. Drysdale inscribed "HOF 1984" to his signature, both written in blue ink. The ball is in an official Rawlings box, and the ball comes with a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA regarding the Drysdale Auto 8 signature. The ball is in excellent condition.
