Hardly the image conjured when thinking of the Pittsburgh Pirates, this circa mid-1940s cap was game worn by infielder Pete Coscarart. Tough to find style has a white, felt "P" sewn on front, made by Goldsmith with leather band inside and size 7 1/8 chain stitched in red along with player number "5" chain stitched in the same fashion. Classic hat shows fine use but also in nice condition, and is signed on the underside of the brim by Coscarart, who played his final five seasons for the Pirates after spending his first four with the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Pirates changed to their current-day yellow and black scheme in 1948, and items from their "blue" period are difficult to come by.
