Offered is a game worn Kansas City Athletics cap from the early 1960s. In 1955, the Philadelphia Athletics moved to Kansas City, and the transplanted Athletics played in Kansas City through the 1967 season before moving to Oakland, California - where the team still remains. The ownership of the Kansas City team and the New York Yankees had out-of-baseball business ties, and that relationship seemed to spill over into baseball. Many players went back-and-forth between the two clubs, some multiple times. Some of these many players included Enos Slaughter, Clete Boyer, Roger Maris, Jerry Lumpe, Bobby Shantz, Harry "Suitcase" Simpson, and Don Larsen. The hat has a rare style, with the red interlocked KC on the front. The cap is a Wilson size 6 7/8. There is no player number inside the cap, so we don't know who used it, but it does show use, particularly on the hatband. There is some fading exhibited, as both the original red interlocking KC and the red button at the peak have normal fading from over sixty years. Overall, the cap is in excellent condition.
