Sterling-silver trophy cup presented to Helen Jacobs and Sarah Palfrey Fabyan for their victory in the 1935 United States Lawn Tennis Association's doubles tournament, held at the Longwood Cricket Club, in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The engraving on the front of the cup reads "U.S.L.T.A./Lawn Tennis Championship/of the/United States/Women's Doubles/Longwood Cricket Club/1935/Winners/Helen Jacobs and Mrs. M. Fabyan." Manufactured by Black, Star & Frost Gorham. Stamped "Sterling" on the base. Jacobs and Fabyan were longtime doubles partners and enjoyed great success together, appearing in six Grand Slam doubles finals, and winning three, between the years 1932 and 1936. They were also rivals on the singles circuit, with Jacobs defeating Fabyan in the 1935 U. S. National singles finals. Jacobs won a total of nine grand slam titles during her career and was one of the top tennis players of her era. The trophy remains in Near Mint condition. Height: 10 inches.
