Coca-Cola was a ubiquitous advertiser in the mid-Twentieth Century, and a large part of Coke's advertising involved signs hung in stores to promote Coca-Cola. This heavy cardboard sign is framed at approx. 17.25x28.25". This colorful display depicts an attractive young woman and a handsome man, both smiling as they each indulge in a Coke. The man is shown as a player in the uniform of a generic team in an unidentifiable baseball park. Coca-Cola began as an Atlanta, Georgia company, and Hall of Famer Ty Cobb, a native Georgian, was as shrewd at investing as he was at strategizing baseball, and the Georgia Peach investing heavily in Coca-Cola's early years and the Detroit Tiger great literally made a fortune. The advertising display retains an excellent appearance. The poster is believed to date from the early 1950s, and the beaming smiles of the personages in this vintage display demonstrate the visual innocence often depicted in advertising displays of this time.
