1. Beacon Park, Boston. September 2, 1879 program featured two trotting races with high values for that era ($1,500 & $3,000). First time without betting as law against pool selling in force, 2. The following five programs from Hampden Park, Springfield, Massachusetts: a. August 19, 1890 – two famous Hall of Fame horses and both have been featured by Currier & Ives issuing several color lithograph prints of each equine star. St. Julien won the free-for-all taking all three heats. The last heat time was the fastest ever at the park beating the old mark set by another Hall of Famer, Goldsmith Maid. In another event, Maud S. failed in her attempt to lower her record time. b. b. Fall meeting 1874 meeting - August 18, 19, 20 & 21. On August 18 favored Smuggler won the first race in five heats for a purse of $4,000. On August 19 Goldsmith Maid won the rich open race in three straight heats including the fastest mile ever raced on the track. American Girl was third. c. c. 1887 race meet, September 6-9. d. d. 1888 race meet, September 11-14. e. 1889 race meet, September 3-6. 3. At Charter Oak Park, Hartford, CT., on September 5, 1883, Director won the $10,000 first race on the program with Hall of Famer John Goldsmith in the sulky. 4.
