** FAILED PSA **

LeBron James made the most advertised and talked about NBA debut in history when he took the court for the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road against the Sacramento Kings on October 29, 2003. Presented is the November 11, 2003, issue of ESPN, the first issue of the magazine to come out after LeBron's debut. Only a few months after leaving St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, the Number 1 draft pick in the 2003 NBA draft stood 6'8" and 240 pounds. He was hardly intimidated in his first regular season NBA game as he scored 25 points, had 9 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals in 42 minutes of play. The Cavaliers lost the to Kings by 106-92, but the score of this early season game was secondary to the easily recognized impact that James would have on pro basketball.  On the cover page of this EPSN issue is a photo of LeBron on the court and blowing a bubble with bubble gum, thus visually showing him in a man's game, but the bubble gum suggesting his young age. Underneath the photo reads, "And So It Begins/ LeBron: Year One". On page 58 of the 10" x 12.25" magazine is an article featuring comments about making pro debuts at young ages, with specific reference to LeBron. The item is from the collection of  Jan van Breda Kolff, a former ABA and NBA player. The signature obtained by Jan. The magazine is signed on the cover by LeBron during his rookie year! The cover features a large, neatly written signature of LeBron in black ink. LeBron is still going strong, and he has been the key part of four NBA Championships, with three different franchises. He is a 4-time recipient of both the NBA MVP and the Finals MVP. he is an 18-time All-Star, and 17-times NBA All First Team.  It is a beautiful 10/10 autograph. LeBron is on the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team, and by consensus one of the greatest players in NBA history, and this scarce autographed ESPN magazine cover makes an unusual addition to any memorabilia assemblage.
