One-page typed letter, dated August 10, 1944, signed by Hall of Fame outfielder Tris Speaker. In his letter, written on his personal letterhead, Speaker responds to a "Mr. Brad Maxwell," who had requested the autographs of Speaker and some members of the Philadelphia Athletics. Speaker regrets that Maxwell's request came too late and that he was unable to provide the autographs requested, but that he was enclosing an autographed picture of himself. Signed "Tris Speaker" in blue ink (grading 10/10). Speaker was working for the Cleveland Indians as a broadcaster and scout at the time of this letter. He died in 1958 at the age of seventy. The letter (7.25x10.5") displays one vertical and two horizontal mailing folds, and is otherwise in Excellent condition. PSA LOA and graded perfect 10/10 auto.
