Offered is a group of five items featuring Hall of Fame base stealers Lou Brock and Ricky Henderson. Primarily a St. Louis Cardinal, Brock played 19 Major League seasons, was a 6-time All-Star, an 8-time league leader in stolen bases, was a part of two World Series Champions, and ranks second all-time in stolen bases with 934. Ricky Henderson played 25 Major League seasons. He was an MVP, a 10-time All-Star, a 2-time World Series Champ, won 12 league base stealing crowns and is first all-time in stolen bases with 1,406. This lot contains: 1) A Ricky Henderson signed first day cancellation stamped envelope with a Jackie Robinson stamp, postmarked on August 27, 1982. The envelope is postmarked in Milwaukee on the day when Henderson stole four bases in the game to break Lou Brock's single season record of 118. Brock was at the game and the special issued envelope displays a photo of Brock and Henderson just after Henderson broke Brock's record. 2) A 1975 Topps card (#415) issued in entitled "All-Time Record Holders/ Stolen Bases." The card shows Lou Brock both as the single season leader with 118 stolen bases and the career leader with 917 (for the modern record). Brock has signed the card on the front in blue ink. 3) A 1976 Topps card titled "'74 Highlights." The card shows Brock, and the caption reads "Brock Steals 118." Brock has signed the card in neat script with a blue marker. 4) A Lou Brock Day (September 9, 1979). 8x10" signed color photo, with Brock pictured kneeling with his bat. Brock signed the photo in black ink. 5) "A Tale of Two Thieves" is a photo and caption concerning Henderson breaking Brock's single season stolen base record on August 27, 1982, with a color photo signed by both Brock and Henderson.
