When it comes to women's tennis, there has never been a pair of sisters as accomplished as Venus and Serena Williams. Displayed is a full ticket to the 2001 U.S. Open, at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows -Corona Park, Queens, in New York City, signed by both Venus and Serena. The match, held on September 8th, was the first Grand Slam final between sisters in 117 years. It was also their first head-to-head Grand Slam Final matchup. Defending champion Venus defeated Serena 6-2, 6-4 in the final Grand Slam event of 2001. It was the 6th title for Venus in 2001, and her 21st title overall. The triumph was also the 4th career Grand Slam win for Venus and her second U.S. Open title. The match was the first time sisters had met in a Grand Slam final since the 1884 Wimbledon Championships when Maud Watson defeated her older sister, Lilian Watson, 6-8, 6-3, 6-3. Venus Williams finished the 2001 season ranked #3 in the world, while Serena finished the year ranked #6. In their careers, Venus has won seven Grand Glams and Serena has won 23. The consignor met them at the match. The full ticket is signed on the back by each Williams sister. The ticket has been encapsulated and graded PSA VG-EX 4. The signed ticket is a valued remembrance for an historic match between sisters, each being one of the best women's tennis players of all-time. It is the only PSA graded example.
