1984 Pittsburgh Maulers home jersey worn by defensive back Mark Harper during the club's only season in franchise history. Accompanied by a pair of Maulers practice pants (attribution to Harper cannot be determined). The Maulers were members of the short-lived United States Football League (1983-1985) for just one season and as a result, all game-used equipment is scarce. (A Pittsburgh Maulers road jersey and pants are also offered in this auction.) Like nearly all Pittsburgh Maulers game-worn items in the hobby today, both the offered jersey and pants were obtained by our consignor directly from the team shortly after they folded. (The Maulers conducted a special auction of game-worn items and other material at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh.)

The purple mesh jersey features the number "26" on the front, reverse, and each sleeve. The name "M. Harper" is lettered upon a blue nameplate on the reverse, directly above the number. All numerals are silk screened in white on orange paint. All letters are silk screened in white paint. Located on the left front tail is a "Champion L" label. The jersey is all original and displays moderate wear, including several team repairs on the shoulders and sleeves. The gray practice pants (not game-worn; the team's game-worn pants featured a bright stripe down the sides) are complete with their original gray lacing in the fly. A "Rawlings 38" label is located in the rear waistband, and the number "38" is stamped in the front waistband. The pants are original as issued and display moderate wear. Mark Harper was one of a number of Maulers players who went on to enjoy a successful career in the NFL. Harper played five seasons (1986-1990) with the Cleveland Browns, appearing in sixty-two games and totaling 8 interceptions.
