This truly one-of-a-kind creation, akin to folk art, consisting of 17 pennants sewn together to make a colorful circle 54" in diameter. Most of the pennants involve Boston or Massachusetts colleges, but the assortment of pennants is diverse. The most stunning of the pennants is the 1915 Boston Red Sox World Champion pennant. This team went 101-50-4 to take the AL Pennant and then defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in five games to win the World Series, featured Babe Ruth as a pitcher and other Hall of Famers Harry Hooper, Tris Speaker, and Herb Pennock. Also included are pennants representing MIT, Holy Cross, Princeton, Harvard, USA, Yale, Carlisle, Dartmouth, Paul Revere, Williams, Radcliffe, Brown, Wellsley, Massachusetts, and Army. The pennants do show some wear, some staining and a few tears. This unique offering channels Boston area colleges, Ivy League Universities, little Carlisle, who produced Jim Thorpe and beat the big schools in football, plus patriotic pennants for the USA, Army, and Paul Revere. Terrific, eye-catching nostalgia.
