Original glass plate negative capturing Christy Mathewson as a member of the New York Giants. Mathewson is pictured warming up on the sideline prior to a game at the Polo Grounds. Several of his teammates can be seen in the background taking part in pregame activities. Although no year is listed, the uniform style shown here appears to date from either 1909 or 1910. Mathewson won 25 and 27 games, respectively, during those two seasons, with the latter total tops in the league. The negative (5x7") displays a few small areas of emulsion loss, most notably in the lower left quadrant. In Good to Very Good condition overall.
