Cabinet photo of actor Otto F. Hoffman inscribed to baseball Hall of Famer Tris Speaker. Hoffman has inscribed the photo in black fountain pen "To - Tris Spoke Speaker/in memories of the many good 'souses'/Otto." Both the inscription and signature are boldly scripted and grade 10/10 overall. Obviously, given the inscription, Speaker and Hoffman enjoyed more than a few beers together over the years. Hoffman was a star of both stage and screen from 1914 to 1944. The cabinet photo, produced by "Sands & Brady" of Providence, Rhode Island, was produced specifically as a souvenir for Hoffman's fans, as noted by the printing in the lower right corner that reads "Souvenir Photograph of Otto F. Hoffman." This piece originates directly from Speaker's estate, and the fact that he kept it until his death is a measure of their friendship. The cabinet (6x8") displays light staining to both the mount and photo, as well as light edge and corner wear. In Good to Very Good condition overall.
