Rare archive of 362 original photos, housed in two separate albums, capturing the world of open-wheel auto racing in the 1930s and 1940s. Many different locales are represented, including Indianapolis (Indiana), New Market (New Jersey), Reading (Pennsylvania), Woodbridge (New Jersey), Langhorne (Pennsylvania), and Sheepshead Bay (New York). 

 The larger of the two albums contains 179 photos, the vast majority of which are accompanied by handwritten captions affixed below that provide the name of the racer, the date, and the location. Most of the photos in this album were taken on the track, with many picturing race action, including numerous crashes. The size breakdown of the 179 photos is as follows: thirty-six are approximately 8" x 10", thirty-one are approximately 6" x 4", and 112 are approximately 4" x 3". The majority of the photos are affixed to the album pages, but some are also mounted with photo corners. Excellent condition overall.

The second album houses 183 smaller-sized photos, all of which are mounted by means of photo corners. The photos in this album are more static in nature, and mainly picture posed images of racers and their automobiles. The size breakdown of the 183 photos is as follows: 116 are approximately 5" x 4", sixty-six are approximately 4" x 3", and one is 8" x 10". Excellent to Mint condition overall.
