Presented is an extremely rare inaugural 1967-68 season game used ABA Kentucky Colonels jersey worn by shooting guard Larry Conley. The 6'3" Conley graduated from Kentucky University, where he played for coach Adolph Rupp. Conley averaged in double figures in each of his three college seasons. In the 1965-66 season, Conley was a starter on the University of Kentucky team that reached the final game of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Texas Western. That iconic game is the subject of the 2006 film Glory Road. Conley played just one game for the Colonels. This jersey originally was obtained directly from Conley, but the related Letter of Authenticity detailing its provenance has been misplaced over the years. The jersey has a "Rawlings" manufacturers' tag on the lower inside rear tail, with that tag also showing "46" for size. Also, on the lower inside rear tail is a tag with washing instructions. On the front of the jersey is "Colonels", in block letters, and the number "40". The number "40" sewn on the back of this white durene jersey. It is in overall good condition. The jersey is all original and inaugural Kentucky Colonel jerseys are very hard to find.
