The 1964 Philadelphia Phillies are best remembered today for their epic collapse at season's end, in which they surrendered a 6.5 game lead in the standings with 12 games to play, losing 10 straight at one point. This Philadelphia Phillies commemorative batting helmet (velvet exterior) has been signed in black marker by the following eighteen former members of that historic club: Jim Bunning, Gene Mauch (Mgr.), Bobby Shantz, Vic Power, John Briggs, Frank Thomas, Clay Dalrymple, Tony Gonzalez, Jack Baldschun, Dennis Bennett, Cal McLish, Art Mahaffey, Roy Sievers, Johnny Calhoun, Ryne Duren, Tony Taylor, Johnny Klippstein, and Dick Allen. Signatures average 9/10. The fiberglass helmet, manufactured by the American Baseball Cap Company, remains in Near Mint condition.
