What could be more Boston than Lansdowne Street, and what could be more emblematic of the Red Sox? Presented is a rare, really rare, original Lansdowne Street sign, circa 1920s, a sign that calls out to be placed in a position to be seen once again. Directly behind the famous Green Monster, the 37-foot left field wall at Fenway Park, is Lansdowne Street, home to bar/restaurants such as Cheeky Monkey, the Bleacher Bar and Lansdowne, plus the location of The House of Blues, a concert hall. The Gate 4 entrance into Fenway Park is on Lansdowne Street. Red Sox Hall of Fame home run hitters such as Jimmie Foxx, Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski - and new Hall of Fame electee David "Big Papi" Ortiz - have launched baseballs onto Lansdowne Street. The sign does have some chipping, and some metal and paint loss, mostly along the bottom, and a few smudges. Actually, the sign is two-sided, and the condition of each side is similar. Except for the aforementioned items, the 7" x 22" metal sign is in very good condition, especially considering that it braved the elements near Fenway Park and is approximately 100 years old. This vintage street sign should not rest out of sight. It could be an impressive addition, proudly displayed on the wall of any room or man cave.
