Presented is the game program for the Oct. 18. 1975 contest of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the Air Force Academy Falcons. Notre Dame was scheduled as the opponent for the Academy's homecoming game - never a sign of great fear for one's visitors to win the game, as colleges prefer to schedule a team that can be beaten before the alumni on the homecoming contest. The program measures 8.5x11", and the cover illustration shows an image of a Falcon, in Air Force Academy uniform, standing atop a pile of Notre Dame players while the Falcon waves a shamrock. Coach Ara Parseghian's Fighting Irish took an early lead in the game, and then held on for a 31-30 win. The 52-page program has the starting line-ups for each team as well as depth charts. Future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana was then a sophomore at Notre Dame, and he isn't in the starting line-up and is listed as the number two quarterback on the depth chart. This was one of Montana's breakout games as he came off the bench to stage a 3 touchdown comeback. The included game ticket stub does not list a ticket price. On the face of the stub is a photograph of the marching Air Force cadets in front of beautiful mountain scenery. Notre Dame finished the 1975 season at 8-3. The program lists Ross Browner, an All-American defensive end who was on two National Champion teams at Notre Dame. Parseghian's 1973 Fighting Irish squad, and the Dan Devine coached Notre Dame 1977 team. That National Champion had Joe Montana starting at quarterback and also had Browner, who passed away in January 2022. This game program is in excellent condition, and it can stir memories.
