Addendum (3/2/22 - 4:09 pm):  Please note that the circular black memorial patch for Don Wilson has been removed from the left sleeve, but the faint stitch outline of its former location can still be seen under close examination. The original description has been amended to include this new information.

Houston Astros jersey worn by pitcher Larry Dierker during the 1975 season. 1975 was the first season that the Astros wore their distinctive "rainbow" jerseys. The jersey also featured a unique design on the reverse in which the uniform number was displayed within a large white circle. While the rainbow elements remained part of the uniform in one form or another into the 1990s, the unique reverse-number design was discontinued after just one season, making this a scarce one-year-only style jersey. The multicolor knit jersey is lettered "Astros" across the front and features a large blue star on the left breast. "Dierker" is lettered on a white name plate on the reverse, below which is the number "49" displayed within a large white circular cloth patch. All front letters and numerals are silk screened in blue. All reverse letters are applied in blue tackle twill. Two Sand Knit labels appear on the left front tail. One bears the size ("44") and the other reads in part "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Houston Astros National League." A circular black memorial patch for Don Wilson has been removed from the left sleeve, but the faint stitch outline of its former location can still be seen under close examination. Dierker has signed the jersey in black marker (grading 8/10) within the white circle on the reverse. Except for the removal of the memorial patch on the left sleeve, the jersey is original as issued and displays moderate-to-heavy wear, including scattered stains on the front and reverse. Dierker, who played with the Astros for all but the final season of his fourteen-year career (1964-1977) compiled a record of 14-16 with Astros in 1975. A former twenty-game winner in 1969, Dierker retired with 139 wins and a 3.31 lifetime ERA.
