"What is the top requirement for a second baseman?" asked Hall of Fame second baseman Nellie Fox during his playing days. "A fine shortstop. I am fortunate in having the best shortstop in baseball, Luis Aparicio." Fox and Aparicio comprised the double-play combination for the pennant winning Chicago "Go-Go" Sox in 1959. "Little Louie" Aparicio was still going strong in 1966 when his fielding and base stealing helped his Baltimore Orioles to the World Series championship. In that season, Aparicio hit .276 with 25 stolen bases and led the American League with 97 runs. A Hall of Famer, Luis was a 13-time All-Star who led the AL 9-times in stolen bases and was a 9-time Gold Glove winner. The home white flannel jersey is signed on the front as "Luis Aparicio". There is a small number "11" on the front. "Orioles" is displayed in orange script in front. The number "11" is on the back. Both the "Orioles" and the number "11" are original. The black lettered nameplate on the back is restored. There are stitch repairs under the first "1" on the back. Very minor piping loss is on the back of the neck. The jersey is tagged "66 Set 2", with a "Wilson" size 40 wash tag. The jersey is signed on the lower left front in black felt tipped marker as "Luis Aparicio" in clearly written large script. The colorful jersey recalls the career of the first Venezuelan to make the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the best shortstop of his time. Comes with PSA LOA for signature.
