Presented is a 2005 Grand Valley State Lakers football National Championship ring. Player's name "Edwards" on shank and full name "Corey Edwards" engraved underneath. Edwards was a safety playing his first season of varsity football. Grand Valley State went undefeated (13-0) in 2005, defeating Northwest Missouri State in the National Championship game of Division II football to win their third National Championship in four years. Head Coach Chuck Martin was named National Coach of the Year for Division II football by the American Football Coaches Association. The face of the size 10.5 ring exhibits the raised letters "GVSU," for Grand Valley State University and the number "1", signifying the National Championship. The left shank of the ring reads "National Champions NCAA Div. II 3 out of 4" and displays three Championship Trophies, and also reads "Seniors 51-4 (13-0)", indicating their career and season records. The right shank shows "Edwards Grand Valley State 2005 GLIAC 2005." The ring face also has three simulated diamonds, standing for the third National Championship the football won in four years. The ring really celebrates the three National Championships in four years and very clearly displays that it is the ring of a champion.
