Presented is a game used jersey, catcher, and blocker used by Jim Carey. Carey was a goalie who played for three NHL teams from 1994-1999 and won the Vezina Trophy while with the Washington Capitals in 1995-96. Carey still holds the Washington record for lowest career GAA with 2.37. Because the goalie's name is similar to that of actor Jim Carrey, the goalie had the nicknames The Mask, Ace, and Net Detective. The nicknames were take-offs from actor Jim Carrey's 1994 movies The Mask and Ace Ventura. The catcher and blocker have super use and were both custom-made for Carey with his name stitched on both. Made by Bruan's. The white jersey has red and blue trim. The front has "Washington" in red letters, and "Capitals in blue letters, except for the letter "L", which is in red and in the shape of a hockey stick. Collar tag states size as 54. Another collar tag lists the manufacturer as CCM and states that the jersey is 100% polyester. The bottom back of the jersey is tagged "CCM" and the bottom back also has the NHL logo affixed. Each arm has the number "30" in blue with red trim, and the number "30" is also on the back in blue with red trim. Nice use on jersey, with some post paint on the arms. Very heavy pilling at the bottom hem of the jersey. The jersey also exhibits scattered puck and stick marks. These game-used items - jersey, catcher, and blocker - make a fine compilation of Jim Carey and Washington Capital memorabilia.
