Original glass plate negative capturing 20 members of the 1914 Buffalo Buffeds, members of the Federal League. Although no year or team identification is provided, the distinctive road uniform, reading "Buffalo," was only used by the club in 1914. The Federal League was originally formed in 1913 as a minor league circuit. The following year the League's officials declared it a third major league and began "raiding" the National and American League club for players. Despite a number of stars "jumping" to the "outlaw" league, the Federal League eventually disbanded after the 1915 season. Because the League's existence was so brief, photographic images of Federal League teams, such as this, are rare. The negative (7x5") displays a few tiny border flakes and is in Excellent condition. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive.
