Zion Williamson is something special. His mother agrees and when 21-year-old Zion was born, his mother wanted to name him something special, so she named her son after the biblical Mount Zion. In a similar biblical vein, the New Orleans Pelicans general manager, David Griffin, said of his young star, "Zion is touched by the hand of God to play this game." At 6'6" and 245 lbs., it would seem that Zion would be too heavy to display the innate quickness that he exhibited in college. At Duke, he set a then all-time record for a freshman with a vertical leap of 45". In his first NBA season, Williamson suffered a torn meniscus and played only 24-games, but he averaged 22.5 PPG and made the All-Rookie First Team. Last season, he averaged 27.0 PPG, and he was an All-Star. It seems his weight is now higher, as he was sidelined early in the 2021-22 season while recovering from off-season foot surgery.
