Original Type I photo of New York New York Highlanders first baseman Hal Chase in 1912. The crystal-clear photo captures Chase warming up on the sideline prior to a game at Hilltop Park. Two Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with a few handwritten editorial notations, including Chase’s name. Although no year is listed, the uniform style shown here was worn by the Highlanders only in 1912 during Chase’s tenure with the club. Chase, who ended his career with the Giants, was considered one of the finest fielding first baseman of his era, but his reputation for “throwing” games ultimately led to his being forced out of the Majors following the 1919 season. The photo (5.25x4.5") is in Excellent condition. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
