Pittsburgh Pirates home jersey worn by pitcher Harvey Haddix in 1962. The white flannel vest-style jersey is lettered "Pirates" across the front and features the number "31" on the left breast and reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in black on gold felt. A "Rawlings size 40" label appears on the left front tail, with "Haddix" chain-stitched in black directly below. Located on the interior left front tail are a laundry tag and an adjacent flag tag that reads "Set 1 1962." Haddix has beautifully signed the jersey in black marker (9/10) on the left front tail, directly above the manufacturer's label. There is a vintage team replacement to the number on the reverse, otherwise the jersey is original as issued. Heavy wear is displayed throughout, including light scattered staining, team repairs, and fraying to the manufacturer's label. Haddix will forever be remembered for his amazing 1959 feat of pitching 12 perfect innings in a game, only to lose the perfect game, no hitter, and the win in the bottom of the 13th inning. Haddix started 20 games for the Pirates in 1962, finishing the season with a 9-6 record and 4.20 ERA. A former 20-game winner for the Cardinals in 1953, Haddix retired in 1965 with 136 wins and a 3.63 lifetime ERA.
