Pittsburgh Pirates road jersey worn by journeyman first baseman Rocky Nelson in 1961. The gray flannel vest-style jersey is lettered "Pirates" across the front and features the number 14 on the reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in black on gold felt. A MacGregor size 42 label appears in the collar. Located on the interior right front tail is a set tag reading "Set 1 1961." The black felt material on the reverse numerals has been replaced and several tears to the black letters on the front have been repaired/reinforced. The bottom button is no longer present. Heavy wear is evident throughout, including a few tiny holes and loose threading to the black-and-gold piping on the sleeves and collar. Despite the absence of a player identifier, Rocky Nelson was the only player who wore number 14 on the Pirates in 1961, thereby firmly attributing the jersey to him. Nelson batted .197 with 5 home runs and 13 RBI in 1961, which was his final season in the Majors.
