Dwight Gooden Rawlings model 170X bat dating from his 1987 season with the New York Mets. Measuring 36 inches and weighing 32.2 ounces, the uncracked bat displays excellent use, including ball marks, rack marks, and pine tar residue on the handle. Gooden’s uniform number (16) is written in black marker on both the knob and head of the barrel. Stamped in the knob are the model number (170X), the batch code (280), and the year code (7). Gooden finished fifth in the Cy Young Award balloting in 1987, as he finished the year with a 15-7 record and a 3.21 ERA. Game bats used by pitchers, especially one of Gooden’s stature, are scarce and this an outstanding example dating from the peak of his career with the Mets.
