Miami Sharks football helmet, attributed to Dennis Quaid, used in the 1991 film Any Given Sunday. Accompanied by a one-page LOA from Sportsrobes, signed by company president Allan Ruegsegger. (Sportsrobes, a well-known Hollywood costume house specializing in sports wardrobes and props, supplied the uniforms for Any Given Sunday.) Although the Sportsrobes letter does not specify the actor who wore the helmet, it was almost certainly worn by Quaid during filming. As noted in the letter, a decal displaying the number "19" is affixed to the reverse. In the film, Quaid's character, quarterback Jack "Cap" Rooney wore number "19.". Also, a white label affixed to the interior reads "CAP." Lastly, a vintage handwritten notation in blue ink on the interior forehead pad reads "Dennis Quaid/Movie Worn/'Any Given Sunday'." Any Given Sunday was a star-studded affair directed by Oliver Stone that told the story of a fictional pro-football team, the Miami Sharks. Quaid, one of the main characters, played the veteran quarterback of the club, while Al Pacino played the coach. Other cast members included Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, James Woods, LL Cool J, and Matthew Modine. The helmet displays moderate wear and is complete with its chinstrap and all interior pads.
