Collection of 18 vintage photographs picturing various Mexican-League players and teams. These photos have been consigned directly from a gentleman in Mexico, whose family saved them, but no other information is known. They appear to date from the 1930s/1940s, and all but three picture members of the El Aguila club, which was based in Vera Cruz, Mexico. Unfortunately, none of the players are identified, but it should be mentioned that Martin Dihigo played for El Aguila during the late 1930s. (We cannot verify that Dihigo is represented in any of these photos.) Thirteen are real-photo postcards (3.5x5.5"), while the remaining four are smaller snapshot photos (the smallest is 2x3" and the largest 3.5x4.5"). Of the 15 El Aguila photos, three are team images (all different) and the remainder picture individual players (includes two duplicates). The team affiliations represented in the other three photos have not been identified. Most of the photography credits read "El Tigre," while three read "Varela." Mexican-League images from this time period are scarce and this collection provides a unique photographic time capsule that will appeal to both collectors and historians alike. All the photos were once mounted in an album and later removed. As a result, all display paper residue and/or paper loss on the reverse. Other flaws include moderate creasing and staining to most. Fair to Good condition overall.
