The Greensboro Yankees, a New York Yankee farm club of the Carolina League, ended the 1965 season with a record of 79 wins and 65 losses, second in the league's West Division. Bobby Murcer went on to play 17 years in the Majors, mostly with the New York Yankees, and he hit 252 homers. Murcer won a Gold Glove for his outfield play, and he was on 5 All-Star teams. The Yankees outscored their opponents 704 to 583. Chester Trail led Greensboro with 22 home runs, while Rich Barry and Bobby Murcer blasted 20 or more also. Rich Barry drove in 92 runs. Bobby Murcer paced hitters with significant playing time by connecting at a .322 clip. Fritz Peterson and Teddy Dillard topped the squad with 11 wins each, and Charles Hayes recorded a 2.72 ERA, tops among regular hurlers.
