1957-1958 Topps Basketball #77 Bill Russell rookie card beautifully signed by Russell in black Sharpie on the front. PSA has encapsulated the card; grading the signature MINT 9 and the card VG 3. This card was signed at Russell's first ever signing show. We know this because Russell only signed 1,000 pieces at that show. Always the savvy businessman, Russell consecutively numbered each item he signed that day to keep an accurate count. Russell numbered this card "614" below his signature, indicating that it was the 614th item he signed. The card is off center left to right and displays a few very light vertical creases near the base. It should be noted that nearly all the creases are only visible from the reverse and the card displays at a much higher level than its technically accurate grade would indicate. Russell's 1957 Topps rookie card is not only his most popular card, but one of the most iconic sports cards ever issued. Not surprisingly, signed examples are scarce and seldom seen at auction. This is the first signed Russell rookie card we have ever offered and one that would be a prize addition to any advanced basketball card or autograph collection.
