Collection of four circa 1950s original signed sports artworks: two by Willard Mullin and two by Vic Johnson. Willard Mullin: 1) Cartoon (14x21") picturing a variety of New York sports players, plus the Brooklyn Bum, as they tease Mullin about his lack of creativity following his return from vacation. Matted and framed to total dimensions of 18.25x25.5". 2) Cartoon (16.75x21.5") previewing the upcoming Army/Navy football game. Matted and framed to total dimensions of 21x26". Mullin presented each of these pieces to an aspiring cartoonist, Paul Gibbons, and on each he has added a handwritten inscription to Gibbons along the base. As such, each piece has been signed by Mullin twice. Vic Johnson: 1) Cartoon (13x14") picturing Boston College football coach Mike Holovak and some of his players in the gym. Matted and framed to total dimensions of 17.25x18.25". 2) Cartoon (16.5x11.25") picturing Boston College football coach Mike Holovak and some of his players at the start of fall practice. Matted and framed to total dimensions of 20.75x15.75". All the artworks display editorial notations and are in apparent Very Good to Excellent condition overall.
