As many fans and baseball historians alike are aware, aside from being perhaps baseball's most elite hitter of all time, Ted Williams was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing. Signed and framed handwritten letter is from Teddy Ballgame himself in blue ballpoint ink, thanking a fan for sending him the book, "Atlantic Salmon Fishing" by Charles Phair, which is included with this lot. Dated 1989, the letter goes into detail about Williams' fishing exploits, concluding with, "I've fished for Atlantic Salmon for 34 years & if I know anything about fishing (& I do) the Atlantic Salmon is the fish," with the last two words triple-underlined for impact, concluding that the book was a "true prize." Also included is original mailing envelope with Ted's signature with return address on back (glue residue on envelope from display). Book is in NM condition though we can't determine if it's the one referenced in the letter, which is on 6x8" paper beautifully matted and framed to 12.25x15.25".
