Circa 1981-83 game used Johnny Bench bat from the tail end of his epic 17-year MLB career, spent entirely with the Cincinnati Reds. Louisville Slugger Model S216 bat measures 35.5", 32.8 oz, with with the Hall of Famer's number 5 on the knob in black marker. Nice use shown with ball marks on barrel, red and blue bat rack paint transfers, and moderate pine tar on the handle along with an extensive crack. This item has current significance as Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez hit his 46th homer of the season on September 20 of 2021, snapping Bench's record for the position of 45 set over a half-century ago, in 1970. Provenance is solid as this was obtained by a former NY Mets bat boy. Graded PSA GU 8.5, comes with LOA.
