Large composite-photo display issued in commemoration of the Cincinnati Mohawks' 1949-1950 hockey season. The attractive design consists of actual photos of 22 team members (including the coach and two trainers) which have been precisely cut to form and affixed to a large mount. Each individual is identified in print directly below his respective image. The center of the display features the team name and year on an illustrated banner. Additional text in the center of the piece documents two professional hockey records set by the club that season in a 5-2 win over New Haven: 3 goals in the span of 26 seconds and 4 goals in the span of 50 seconds. The Cincinnati Mohawks were a professional member of the American Hockey League from 1949 to 1952. The club served as a farm team to the Montreal Canadiens at the time this piece was produced and many of the players represented here played in the NHL at one time, including Ivan Irwin, Buddy MacPherson, Gerry Plamondon, Paul Bibeault, Bert Hirschfeld, Jacques Locas, Gerry McNeil, Andy Hebenton, Tod Campeau, Phil Hergesheimer, and Gilles Dube. The Mowhawks later played in the International Hockey League from 1952 to 1958 before disbanding. Given the size of this piece it was most likely produced to hang in the arena or team office, making it a unique hockey memento from the club's short ten-year existence. The display measures 29.5x23.5" (visible dimensions) and displays a few light stains resulting from the adhesion process of the photos. A few of the photos show slight loosening from the mount. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Framed to total dimensions of 32.5x26.5".
