Original Type I photograph of Hall of Fame pitcher Herb Pennock as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics, circa 1913. Pennock is pictured in a windup pose on the sideline prior to a game. Pennock began his Major League career with the A’s in 1912, but it wasn’t until 1923, when he joined the New York Yankees, that he blossomed into one of the game’s top pitchers. Pennock won 115 games between the years 1923 and 1928, including two 20-win seasons, and helped lead the Yankees to four pennants and two World Championships during that span. Based upon the uniform style, this photo was taken between the years 1912 and 1914, making it an extremely early Pennock image. The photo measures 3.25x5.5” and displays a few minor border creases. VG-EX. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
