 An original 1890s Thomas Sharkey boxing cabinet card.  Sharkey was an impressive fighter in his day and fought from 1893-1904. Rugged, aggressive, and a very hard puncher, he met the best heavyweights of the time and is principally remembered for two epic battles with the great James J Jeffries (who considered Sharkey his toughest opponent). Both went the distance with Sharkey losing on points; the second, a 25-round contest for Jeffries' world title, is considered as an all-time classic. The cabinet card measures 12.5x9.75". It is in VG-EX condition with some rounding to the corners and some light toning/foxing. A great piece of boxing history from one of the era's best fighters.
