Heavily worn pair of boxing gloves worn by Fritzie Zivic, who turned pro at the young age of 18 and went on to become World Welterweight Championship with an astounding career record of 158-65-9. This pair of red leather gloves was worn for his January 15, 1946, bout against Al Priest at Boston Garden, and likely well beyond based on the condition. Cuff tags are from Sammy Frager Boxing Gloves of Chicago. Zivic lost a 10-round decision to Priest in the 1946 bout, which was toward the end of his career and he was still fighting prolifically, with a flurry of late defeats tarnishing his still-impressive record. Comes with Letter of Provenance as well as news clippings.
