In 1938, Gum Inc. produced perhaps the most iconic of all non-sport sets, Horrors of War. Depicting violent and often gruesome images from the Sino-Japanese war and the early days of World War II, this set quickly became the one to have for the youths of the day, and continues to be one of the most popular non-sports sets to collectors today. This collector-grade partial set includes 234 of 288 cards, including 23 from the rare high-number series (#241-288).The low-number series (#1-240) grade 4% EX, 6% VG-EX, 24% GD-VG, 47% FR-GD and 19% lesser. The high-number cards grade 12% VG-EX, 60% GD-VG and 28% lesser. Missing numbers 193, 196, 199, 202-206, 209, 215, 217, 219, 221-224, 226-231, 233-240 (Frightful Cost of War), 245, 265, 266, 268-276, 277 (Hitler’s Border Tour), 278-282, 283 (Hitler Threatens Force), 284, 285, 286 (Chamberlain Meets Hitler), 287, and 288 (Czech President Surrenders) for completion; seven (7) duplicates are also included. From Troup's Trove - a collection of over one hundred HOBBY FRESH complete trading card sets spanning from the 1910s until the 1980s, including some of the most iconic sports sets ever made.
