Bold Forbes, conditioned by hall of fame trainer Laz Barrera, captured two of racing’s three classics in 1976; the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes. Piloted by Angel Cordero in the run for the roses, Bold Forbes took the field wire-to-wire as the 3-1 choice. He was later named champion three-year old for his spectacular 1976 season. With 18 career starts, he was victorious 13 times and never worse than third. Bold Forbes wore this therapeutic steel shoe while pensioned from stallion duty at the Kentucky Horse Park where he was laid to rest in 2007. This shoe is mounted on a solid oak plaque with custom nameplate and an 8x10" portrait of the champion. A Letter of Provenance from his groom at the Kentucky Horse Park is included.
