Astounding assortment of 21 original glass plate negative slides dating back a century - to the 1921 bout between Heavyweight Champion Jack Dempsey and Light Heavyweight Champ Georges Carpentier. Billed as one of the "Fight(s) of the Century," the July 2 fight was held at Boyle's Thirty Acres in Jersey City, NJ. Each slide measures 4x3.25" and includes a descriptive caption on the negative, and each is encased in its own protective sleeve. Originally sold by Christie's with 1996 sale tag. Though Carpentier fought valiantly in the early going, Dempsey's 20-pound weight advantage proved to be too much in a fourth-round knockout.
